Ku-Band Up and Down Converter Unit & Power Supply

MODEL: TR-1414A4-2025

???

DESCRIPTION

This unit is an RF subsystem for bi-directional (Forward and Reverse) SatCom link applications at Ku-Band.

The upconverter of the unit converts the L-Band IF signal from a modem to Ku-Band frequency for transport to a power mplifier (PA). This forms the Return Link (RL) or transmit path.

The downconverter receives the Ku-Band RF signal from the antenna, pre-amplified by an external LNA mounted in close proximity to the antenna, down converts this to L-Band and routes this back to the modem. There are actually two polarization components to this signal, so there are in fact two receive signals and two downconverters in the unit. This forms the Forward Link (FL) or receive path.

The unit is also responsible for TCP/IP communication with the modem and general system control.

The unit interfaces to the aircraft +28VDC bus for primary power. It also upconverts this 28VDC to approximately 48VDC for transport to, and subsequent use by the power amplifier, also mounted close to the Antenna.
