ITS Electronics, a leading provider of Satellite Communication (Satcom) equipment is looking for a Manager of Engineering. This Manager must have a proven track record of managing diverse multidiscipline engineering teams from microwave/RF to electrical and mechanical to software design and implementation. The Manager should be well versed in the latest technologies and in the transitioning of development programs to manufacturing. ITS Electronics provides Frequency Converters, (BUC and BDC) High Power Amplifiers (HPA), Transceivers, and Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPA) for both commercial and military use. This Engineering position will manage the development of ITS Electronics Satcom equipment and system solutions for both ground based and airborne platforms. In addition this Manager will also manage the development of specifications for RF hardware and software systems based on customer requirements including the evaluation and selection of vendors and partners.
This individual must have a good understanding of engineering involved in development of products for:
- Earth Station Equipment
- In-Flight Entertainment
- Mobile Satcom
- Satcom on the move
Individual responsibilities include the following:
- Manage multidiscipline engineering team to meet the technical and schedule requirements on programs
- Oversight of the entire budget for the engineering department
- Evaluation of customer and operational needs to define system performance requirements
- Manage the engineering teams development of system-level architectures and the decomposition into system and hardware and software lower level requirements
- Manage the implementation of new or enhanced RF equipment and systems for satellite earth stations and gateways, Satellite In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) systems and satellite communication on the move systems
- Manage the introduction of new products and technologies to both new and existing customers
- Provide feedback to management on customers’ needs/concerns, products and competitors
- Effectively communicate with all areas of the company, including sales and marketing to define implementation of customer requirements, finance to meet cost goals
Following are the minimum qualification for this individual
- Must live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada region
- Bachelor’s degree, preference to individuals with master’s degree in RF engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience
- A minimum of ten (10) years experience in the Satcom and/or terrestrial or wireless telecom equipment development
- Background in RF/microwave design and/or program management is desirable
- At least 10 years of experience managing diverse multidiscipline engineering teams in the satellite communications field on commercial and government programs
- Must have knowledge of aviation standards and certifications including but not limited to ARINC, DO160, DO254, and FAA certifications.
- Customer focused orientation with excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills and the ability to present company proposed solutions, products and services to customers, partners and vendors
- Knowledge of competing Satcom companies capabilities and markets
- Computer competent with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Power Point and Excel
- Practical problem solving and strategic thinking skills, critical thinker, and self-starter
- Superior communications skills with all levels of employees and both internal and external customers-including presentations, negotiations, and written reports with orientation to meet company’s financial goals
This position reports to the President and CEO of the company.
